Grinder Issues

Rhinowares grinder issues

Recently I noticed that the top of the Rhinowares Rhino Compact Hand Grinder I bought last month was getting more difficult to get back on to the body of the grinder after putting the beans in, a closer inspection revealed that the plastic guide for the grinder shaft was starting to deform!

I think that after less than a months worth of use this level of wear is unacceptable so have arranged a refund from Amazon.

So that leaves me on the hunt for a replacement, I set myself the following criteria and went hunting

  • Less than £70
  • Firm connection of the grind catcher (the Rhino was a pain for this)
  • Being able to get it quickly

My first thought was to go for one of the Hario options, with the Timemore C2 or 1Zpresso Q2 being tempting but hard to get in budget without waiting for them to get here from China, however I then found a deal on the Timemore C2 in the UK for £58 delivered so pulled the trigger and that arrived this morning!

Timemore C2

What a joy this grinder is to use in comparison to the Rhino, this is what I should have bought in the first place!

The screw in grind chamber, bearings in the mechanism and the texture on the body makes it so much easier to use and its probably twice as fast as the Rhino to grind a single coffee dose the only downsides so far is that it seems to have more static issues so takes a little more effort to get all the grinds out and its a bit bigger so can’t be stored inside the Aeropress.

Just waiting for my Timemore Black Mirror scale to show up from China now so I don’t have to grab my phone before making coffee!
