I bought Sneezy my 2006 Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8t back in 2019 when the Mini Cooper S I had was going to cost more than it was worth to get through another MOT
I had a TDI Ibiza before the Mini, it was a great car and I always fancied the Cupra version. Petrol Cupras are a fairly rare car so the options were fairly limited (How many left suggests less than 500 were sold and only about 180 are left) but I found this fairly low milage example with most of the mods I wanted at a good price
Spec when I bought it
- Jetex cone filter
- Forge turbo intake hose
- Forge throttle body hose
- Forge 008 diverter valve
- Seat sport front strut brace
- Whiteline adjustable rear anti-roll bar
- Ferodo DS2500 brake pads
- Full Milltek turbo back exhaust with decat
- Audi S3 injectors
- Stage 2 remap from Badger5
First things
- Fit the Pioneer DEH-80PRS I kept from the Mini
- Changed the damaged Jetex for a Ramair
- Took it for a full paint correction, scrubbed up well for an old car
Took it for a dyno day at Surrey Rolling Road to see how it stacked up and was happy with the figures
Other changes to bring things up to date
- MTech J hook disks all round
- Bilstein B16 coilovers
- Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres
- Refit factory cat to pass most recent MOT
Todo
- Find and fit a steering wheel with controls
- Fit cruise control
- Source and fit a Milltek sports cat, repair the snapped stud on the turbo from cat fitting
